Diana’s story: five years in the Netherlands that changed more than just her career
First steps in the Netherlands
In quality control, there is no room for rushing or overlooking details. Diana inspects products and pays attention to even the smallest imperfections. She knows that a minor mistake can affect the entire production process. If a product is labeled incorrectly, the consequences can extend far beyond a single workstation. That’s why accuracy and focus are so important to her.Moving from production to quality control was a significant step in Diana’s career. It meant taking on greater responsibility and new challenges, but it also gave her a role that perfectly matched her patience and eye for detail.
Life beyond work
Working in the Netherlands has influenced much more than Diana’s career.Over the years, she has become calmer and more patient. In situations that once caused stress, she now takes a moment to think before reacting.Living in another country has also made her more independent. She has met new people, experienced different customs, and learned to see everyday life from a new perspective.
Two places she calls home
Although Diana has been living and working in the Netherlands for several years, Romania will always hold a special place in her heart. What she misses most is the food her mother cooks. She also misses the mountains, which have always reminded her of home.Whenever she visits her family, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones and returning to the familiar places she grew up with. But after a while, she finds herself missing the Netherlands too.Today, she feels at home in both countries.
Advice for new employees
When Diana speaks with people who have just arrived in the Netherlands, there is one word she always repeats: patience. Not everything happens immediately. It takes time to settle into a new workplace, get used to daily routines, and learn a new language. She also emphasizes how important it is to know who your coordinator is. Your AB Midden Nederland coordinator is your first point of contact for any questions about work, accommodation, or other practical matters.Diana also believes it’s important to be patient with yourself especially when learning Dutch. As she says, Dutch grammar isn’t the easiest, so mastering the language simply takes time.
Stand together. Grow together. Five years of growth
Today, Diana is celebrating her fifth year working through AB Midden Nederland. During that time, she has grown from a production employee into a Quality Control Inspector.Looking back, she sees much more than a change in job title. She sees everything she has learned along the way both professionally and personally. And for anyone just beginning their journey in the Netherlands, her advice is simple: give yourself time.
